Freetown, Grand Bahama Island

Aside from the beaches… one of my favorite things about the Bahamas was our tour of the East End… more specifically Freetown. And according to our guide, this was one of the first settlements made by the slaves who were bound for England at the time when the Queen decided to stop the slave trade… so they just happened to be right outside of the Grand Bahama Island and that’s where they settled.. hence the name, “Freetown”… here are some pictures of some of the churches and cemetary gates…
